Kid-friendly, Family Fun in Essex, MA
1. Essex Shipbuilding Museum welcomes and engages young minds with hands-on exhibits and demonstrations about how ships were built here in Essex, Massachusetts. Check their website for hours and upcoming workshops and festivals when they reopen. The museum is temporarily closed due to the pandemic.
2. From May through October, enjoy an Essex River Cruise aboard the Essex River Queen through the sheltered waters of the Essex River. It was voted the #1 thing to do in Essex, MA. The one an a half hour narrated tour points out former Hollywood movie sets, local lore and wildlife. (No worries, there’s a restroom onboard!)
6. Treat the kids to the best hot dogs on the North Shore at Essex River Dogs with casual dining on an outdoor picnic table. There are three kinds of dogs - including veggie dogs, reubens and grilled cheese sandwiches too. (Normally, open seasonally. Currently closed due to the pandemic.)
